Event Report
Once again the gates of Gothenburg opened to host the 2014 GoKinema event and the Gothenburg International Film Festival. GoKinema is a unique event, which brings together students, established filmmakers and industry suppliers at the Gothenburg Film Studio. The venue houses the commercial aspect of the GoKinema event in the main studio area, the Open Set in Studio 2 and the Seminar/Workshop in Studio 3.
With the support of ARRI and Codex, Camera Nordic was able to sponsor the whole spectra of activities pertaining to the GoKinema event and the sponsoring of the Vignette of the Gothenburg International Film festival.
The Camera Nordic booth was packed with technologic novelties and a very pleasant surprise to all the visitors. They were invited to take part in the DoP challenge, which in this case meant Driver of Perfection, a virtual car race which had a Camera Nordic/ARRI jacket as the grand prize. The booth hosted an Alexa XT with a range of Master Anamorphic Lenses resting on a Cartoni Master II head, the optimal setup for any high-end motion picture production. Drawing a crowd to Camera Nordic booth was also the very impressive Vault from Codex, this on set/near set all in one box solution amazed with its immense possibilities, compact size and its simplicity of use, truly impressive. There were also a variety of PCA units on display, which won the interest of the pro-sumer visitors to the show and impressed them with their high level of craftsmanship. For the first time there was also a number of merchandizing articles for sale, such as T-shirts, caps, gloves, etc. and useful tools for every day use such as tape measures, air canisters, bag, pouches etc.
On the second day with the booth in full swing, the Raw Management presentation was held by Steve Calavitis of Camera Nordic, Mark Dollery of ARRI and Reiner Hercher of Codex, and later on in the day the team sat on a Panel regarding current tendencies of the motion picture industry. Saturday brought famed DoP Sophie Winqvist DFF using the Alexa XT with the Master Anamorphics which was sponsored by ARRI via Camera Nordic and the Codex transfer modules, and at 17:00 the first screening of the Gothenburg International Film Festival vignette was shown at the Pustervik which was supported by the Camera Nordic team and with the esteemed members of Camera Center to a barfull of onlookers. Closing GoKinema was the highly awaited closing party, this year with a dinosaur theme and a wonderful performance by a roped woman and a stand-alone guitarist. As most if not all exhibitors had left on Sunday, Camera Nordic stayed on to sponsor the workshop of world acclaimed director Philippe Rousselot AFC, ASC again with the AlexaXT, Master Anamorphic and Codex units
Camera Nordic would like to thank the whole team of the GoKinema event for their heartfelt hospitality and to offer congratulations for a great event and looking forward to next years appointment. In turn thanks also goes out to Mark Dollery of ARRI and Rainer Hercher of Codex for their support and for taking the time to come and enforce the Camera Nordic booth.
