Faster, lighter and more affordable ARRIRAW
All ALEXA XT cameras come with the new XR Module (Extended Recording), a side panel that was co-developed with Codex and that replaces the previous SxS Module. The XR Module allows in-camera ARRIRAW recording up to 120 fps onto exceptionally fast and rugged 512 GB XR Capture Drives.

New Features in THE VAULT
-The Codex Vault now includes support for Sony's F5 and F55 cameras as part of the Process Module. This includes compressed XAVC camera data recorded to SxS cards as well as the new Sony AXSM cards used to the record RAW output via Sony AXS-R5 recorders.

Once again the gates of Gothenburg opened to host the 2014 GoKinema event and the Gothenburg International Film Festival. GoKinema is a unique event, which brings together students, established filmmakers and industry suppliers at the Gothenburg Film Studio. The venue houses the commercial aspect of the GoKinema event in the main studio area, the Open Set in Studio 2 and the Seminar/Workshop in Studio 3.

The first View Finder event was held on Thursday Jan.30th on our premises starting form 18:00. The topic of this session was “your ideal camera” and the outcome was rather interesting and at parts surprising.

It started out as a simple product presentation, admittedly a very long awaited and highly anticipated product, but nevertheless just a product presentation. Within a very short period of time, with the drive of Camera Nordic’s team and the support of the biggest rental houses within the Nordic region, the first Nordic Arrivals expo was created and as time showed resulted in nothing less than a success.

Starting from Malmö and ending up in Stockholm, a full week on the road with many loactions and a party to top it all.
A full week with the AMIRA in hand, a mix of presentations, shootings, and alot of testing, it was truely a full week for the AMIRA. On Thursday during the Viewfinder event the AMIRA was also joined by a number of the newest ECS (Electronic Control Systems) from ARRI which were presented during NAB a short wile ago, expanding the posibilties production possibilities for a huge range of cameras.

On June 4^th STOPP Stockholm hosted,  “ the world of 4K cinema” event, which in fact turned out to be the ultimate cinema camera shootout. With Canon, Panasonic and AJA present and showing their newest 4K specified items the head turners were the 5 cameras lined up, prepped and ready to shoot.

In the early 2000's, Newton Thomas Sigel, ASC and Bryan Singer made X-Men and X-Men 2 on 35mm film. Now the duo has reunited with Wolverine and the X-Men roster of superheroes for X-Men: Days of Future Past, which was shot native 3D on a variety of ARRI Alexa cameras with Codex recorders.

The ALEXA XR/XT cameras will be the world's first cameras capable of encoding ProRes 4444 XQ.
ARRI announced the support for the new Apple ProRes 4444 XQ, the highest-quality version of ProRes to date, which will be available in the next Software Update Packet for ALEXA cameras.

Many questions have arisen around filters, but we feel none are more promiment and important than those which have to do with light control as compared to the ones that are for effect. With this in mind we ventured to explain the pruspose and differences of ND filters.

There’s a new software upgrade for the ARRI Amira camera, that will allow it to record ProRes UHD files, the upgrade will available for purchase by the end of the year. The purchasable upgrade will offer the ability to record all ProRes codecs in UHD 3840 x 2160 resolution directly onto the in-camera CFast 2.0 cards, at up to 60 fps (via an upscale filter). The upgrade will be available via a new software license (and a sensor calibration for existing Amiras), this is a response to user feedback, collected through a number of ‘quizzes’ given to customers by resellers.

Designed from the outset to be adaptable and future-proof, ALEXA can easily accommodate productions that choose to follow a UHD or 4K workflow. The camera's stellar overall image quality in combination with ProRes 3.2K (due for release as a software update in early 2015) and ARRIRAW Open Gate (released earlier this year) allows for simple up-sampling to UHD or 4K in a quality at least as good as other contenders.

This is Sweden’s top 10 box office hits for the first half of 2014. This time there are two animated movies in the mix, and both are in respectable places on the list (3^rd and 6^th). It is also notable to see a 35mm film feature at number 7, and two features shot using anamorphic format in positions 5 and 10. We would like to congratulate the DoP’s for their work and for their choices of material, the rental houses and all those involved in the making of these features, Bravo!

The role and importance of lens data has increased in the last years, either from the increase in complexity of on-set shots or from the ever more demanding VFX scenes required today. With ARRI’s new LDE-1 and SUP 2 for the WCU-4, lens data is available regardless of the set up, this gives the ability to use any camera, any lens, (even manual follow focus!) and still have the all the parameters that modern setups have.

With a sensor that has an active area larger than the ARRI’s 765 film gate, with a dynamic range of over 14 stops, with 6,5k uncompressed ARRIRAW, all housed in a slightly larger ALEXA housing, the ALEXA 65 is clearly a camera for legendary sized shots and incredible detail.

ARRI’s Anamorphic Ultra Wide Zoom AUWZ 19-36/T4.2 is a unique lens that perfectly complements the Master Anamorphics by extending the range to cover extreme wide-angle focal lengths between 19 mm and 36 mm, without any sacrifice in image quality. The telecentric optical design of the AUWZ means that it has highly uniform field illumination, from the center to the very corners of the image. The first production to make use of the ALEXA 65 large format digital camera system has hit theaters: Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation was shot primarily with 35 mm film cameras by Robert Elswit ASC, but a major underwater sequence was captured with prototype ALEXA 65 cameras in special HydroFlex housings by Pete Romano ASC, in order to maximize image quality for the heavy visual effects. Elswit, Romano and crew spent a month shooting the sequence in a water tank at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden earlier this year, and Romano speaks here about his experiences.
