Faster, lighter and more affordable ARRIRAW
All ALEXA XT cameras come with the new XR Module (Extended Recording), a side panel that was co-developed with Codex and that replaces the previous SxS Module. The XR Module allows in-camera ARRIRAW recording up to 120 fps onto exceptionally fast and rugged 512 GB XR Capture Drives.
THE VAULT
New Features in THE VAULT
-The Codex Vault now includes support for Sony's F5 and F55 cameras as part of the Process Module. This includes compressed XAVC camera data recorded to SxS cards as well as the new Sony AXSM cards used to the record RAW output via Sony AXS-R5 recorders.

Amira's Week in Sweden
Starting from Malmö and ending up in Stockholm, a full week on the road with many loactions and a party to top it all.
A full week with the AMIRA in hand, a mix of presentations, shootings, and alot of testing, it was truely a full week for the AMIRA. On Thursday during the Viewfinder event the AMIRA was also joined by a number of the newest ECS (Electronic Control Systems) from ARRI which were presented during NAB a short wile ago, expanding the posibilties production possibilities for a huge range of cameras.

On June 4th STOPP Stockholm hosted, “ the world of 4K cinema” event, which in fact turned out to be the ultimate cinema camera shootout. With Canon, Panasonic and AJA present and showing their newest 4K specified items the head turners were the 5 cameras lined up, prepped and ready to shoot.

There’s a new software upgrade for the ARRI Amira camera, that will allow it to record ProRes UHD files, the upgrade will available for purchase by the end of the year. The purchasable upgrade will offer the ability to record all ProRes codecs in UHD 3840 x 2160 resolution directly onto the in-camera CFast 2.0 cards, at up to 60 fps (via an upscale filter). The upgrade will be available via a new software license (and a sensor calibration for existing Amiras), this is a response to user feedback, collected through a number of ‘quizzes’ given to customers by resellers.

The first production to make use of the ALEXA 65 large format digital camera system has hit theaters: Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation was shot primarily with 35 mm film cameras by Robert Elswit ASC, but a major underwater sequence was captured with prototype ALEXA 65 cameras in special HydroFlex housings by Pete Romano ASC, in order to maximize image quality for the heavy visual effects. Elswit, Romano and crew spent a month shooting the sequence in a water tank at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden earlier this year, and Romano speaks here about his experiences.
