ARRI launches the next era of digital cinematography with new ALEXA 35 camera

The ARRI ALEXA 35 is a 4K Super 35 camera that elevates digital cinematography to unprecedented heights. ARRI’s first new sensor in 12 years builds on the evolution of the ALEXA family over that period, delivering 2.5 stops more dynamic range, better low light performance, and richer colors.

We proudly introduce ARRI’s 5th generation intelligent hand unit, the Hi-5! Replacing the previous top-end hand unit, the WCU-4, Hi-5 provides reliable wireless camera and multi-axis lens control in demanding situations on set.

Designed specifically for live, multi-camera applications, AMIRA Live features internal cabling between the camera body and the 1820 Fiber Camera Adapter*. The resulting camera configuration is clean, uncluttered, reliable, and perfect for live broadcast environments, especially in tandem with the ARRI VMM-1 viewfinder monitor.

ALEXA 65 Mission: Accomplished

The first production to make use of the ALEXA 65 large format digital camera system has hit theaters: Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation was shot primarily with 35 mm film cameras by Robert Elswit ASC, but a major underwater sequence was captured with prototype ALEXA 65 cameras in special HydroFlex housings by Pete Romano ASC, in order to maximize image quality for the heavy visual effects. Elswit, Romano and crew spent a month shooting the sequence in a water tank at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden earlier this year, and Romano speaks here about his experiences.

Anamorphic Ultra Wide Zoom

ARRI’s Anamorphic Ultra Wide Zoom AUWZ 19-36/T4.2 is a unique lens that perfectly complements the Master Anamorphics by extending the range to cover extreme wide-angle focal lengths between 19 mm and 36 mm, without any sacrifice in image quality. The telecentric optical design of the AUWZ means that it has highly uniform field illumination, from the center to the very corners of the image. Swedens Top 10 Box Office for 2014

Two notable aspects of this list is that one animated movie has remained on the top 10 throught out while Hundraågen has kept the top position for the whole duration of 2014. Its also notable that one feature which was shot in anamorph has finished in 9th position. We would like to congratulate the DoP’s for their work and for their choices of material, the rental houses and all those involved in the making of these features, Bravo!

The show boasted more than 20 cameras, over 30 tripods, over 150 ARRI accessories wireless and mechanical and a huge array of lenses all placed around a very smartly positioned set. We also screened the ARRI show reels in 4K, which demonstrated the exceptional picture quality that can be achieved with the ALEXA and AMIRA cameras.

Film and Digital Times take us on a full factory tour at ARRI.

The publication is written, edited and published by Jon Fauer ASC an award wining Cinematographer and Director. To top that, this great publication has taken probably one of the most in depth and comprehensive tours of the ARRI factory, enough said, sit back and enjoy the ride.

New Financial Services

Camera Nordic has started cooperatation with Wasa Kredit, a finance company in the Länsförsäkring group.
We are now able to offer leasing terms for the domestic market, more over this can be done faster and easier then ever before.
Simply contact us with the requested equipment list and we will have a propsal ready for you within the next working day.

Can you handle it?

With a sensor that has an active area larger than the ARRI’s 765 film gate, with a dynamic range of over 14 stops, with 6,5k uncompressed ARRIRAW, all housed in a slightly larger ALEXA housing, the ALEXA 65 is clearly a camera for legendary sized shots and incredible detail.

Lens Data for all

The role and importance of lens data has increased in the last years, either from the increase in complexity of on-set shots or from the ever more demanding VFX scenes required today. With ARRI’s new LDE-1 and SUP 2 for the WCU-4, lens data is available regardless of the set up, this gives the ability to use any camera, any lens, (even manual follow focus!) and still have the all the parameters that modern setups have.

Swedens' Top 10 Box Office Q1&Q2 - 2014

This is Sweden’s top 10 box office hits for the first half of 2014. This time there are two animated movies in the mix, and both are in respectable places on the list (3rd and 6th). It is also notable to see a 35mm film feature at number 7, and two features shot using anamorphic format in positions 5 and 10. We would like to congratulate the DoP’s for their work and for their choices of material, the rental houses and all those involved in the making of these features, Bravo!

ALEXA XR/XT ProRes 3,2K for UHD

Designed from the outset to be adaptable and future-proof, ALEXA can easily accommodate productions that choose to follow a UHD or 4K workflow. The camera's stellar overall image quality in combination with ProRes 3.2K (due for release as a software update in early 2015) and ARRIRAW Open Gate (released earlier this year) allows for simple up-sampling to UHD or 4K in a quality at least as good as other contenders.

There’s a new software upgrade for the ARRI Amira camera, that will allow it to record ProRes UHD files, the upgrade will available for purchase by the end of the year. The purchasable upgrade will offer the ability to record all ProRes codecs in UHD 3840 x 2160 resolution directly onto the in-camera CFast 2.0 cards, at up to 60 fps (via an upscale filter). The upgrade will be available via a new software license (and a sensor calibration for existing Amiras), this is a response to user feedback, collected through a number of ‘quizzes’ given to customers by resellers.

Many questions have arisen around filters, but we feel none are more promiment and important than those which have to do with light control as compared to the ones that are for effect. With this in mind we ventured to explain the pruspose and differences of ND filters.

Brand New, Awesome and here. The hat trick of novelties from ARRI and Codex is readily available from Camera Nordic.Three brand new game changers each in their respective field are out, they are truly great and more importantly … are in stock!
