Introducing the S360-C
The ARRI SkyPanel has always been known for its tremendous output and large light aperture. The new S360-C has expanded ARRI’s LED soft light range with the largest and brightest SkyPanel to date. Not only is the S360-C powerful, but it is packed full of exciting features, making it one of the most versatile LED fixtures on the market. Features include full color control, lighting effects on a huge aperture, wireless DMX built in, a unique carbon fiber yoke, and much more. The S360-C is truly a beast of a light.
Enormous Aperture
Soft lights are all about size, the larger the aperture the better. With the S360-C, size has not been compromised. The surface area of the S360-C is over 5.8 times larger than the S60 and produces beautiful soft light in a wide 105º beam angle. The light will wrap around large objects and throw much farther than the smaller SkyPanels.
Lumens, Lumens, and more Lumens
At over 120,000 lumens, the S360-C is one of the brightest LED soft lights on the market. Compared to the S60-C, the S360-C is more than four times brighter and maintains excellent color quality and tuneability. Consuming only 1500 watts, the S360-C is twice as bright as a 4,000-watt tungsten soft light and over three times as bright as a 12,000-watt tungsten space light. Achieving an energy efficacy of over 80 lumens per watt, the S360-C is also one of the most eco-friendly LED soft lights available while also being one of the brightest.
Wireless DMX, Built In
SkyPanel has always had a multitude of ways to control the light output; DMX, RDM, Art-Net, sACN, 5-Pin XLR, and Ethernet. The S360-C adds another important communication method, and this one does not involve any wires: Wireless DMX by LumenRadio. Built into every S360-C, the CMRX chip allows for DMX and RDM communication without the hassle of cables and distribution equipment. Simply link a compatible LumenRadio transmitter to the S360-C and you’re good to go. Using the 5-Pin DMX output on the S360-C also allows for daisy chaining other non-wireless SkyPanels to the DMX network.
Full Color Tuneability
As with all ARRI LED lampheads, the S360-C is fully tuneable. Easily adjust the CCT from 2800 K to 10,000 K with plus/minusgreen control and access the full color gamut with hue and saturation, RGBW mixing, digital gels, source matching, or CIE x, y coordinates. Achieving over 85% of the colors within the Rec 2020 color space, it is now easy to create the look and color you want right on set.
Teradek SERV Pro – wireless video monitoring without the hassle
The Teradek SERV Pro can be used to solve a very common problem. Often I work on documentaries and corporate shoots as a solo shooter or part of a small crew. Usually a director or client wants to see what you are shooting and if you aren’t using a wireless video transmission system that means having additional people huddling around a monitor, or worse yet, crowded around your camera.
Master Grips Basic
Master Grips Basic is a new pair of handgrips in Electronic Control System (ECS) accessory line offering a mechanical standard grip and an intelligent and responsive Master Grip. With this set, users can avoid the need of purchasing two electronic grips, keeping cash in your pocket.
You're going to get the same ergonomic design on the new Standard Grips as we saw on the Master Grips: solid construction, lightweight magnesium cast housing to combat harsh shooting environments. The Standard Grips are attached to the ARRI rosette and come in left and right hand flavors.
What stands out about this setup is the solid workflow for single operators. It's nice knowing one of the grips won't have any camera control functionally, allowing you to position your hand any way you want without worry. The electronic Master Grip provides six individually configurable user keys for camera, lens, or motor functions, and can be easily operated with just one finger. Equipped with a transflective touchscreen, the grips are available in four versions: right-side and left-side grips, with either a rocker for super-smooth zooming or a thumb wheel for iris or focus adjustments.
Stabilized Remote Head SRH-3
The new three-axis, full stabilized remote head from ARRI ushers in creativity for filmmakers, allowing cameras to be places in places we normally can't go. Aimed for set or studio work, the motors inside can compensate for external centrifugal force by adding extra motor power. The SRH-3 has remote control functions with the newly designed, joystick-based ARRI SRH-3 control board with optional wheels. Weighing 19.8 lbs (9 kg), it's compact and lightweight without sacrificing functionality and precision.
SkyLink
ARRI is going wireless with SkyLink, a two-part system that allows for DMX and RDM communication with its SkyPanel fixtures. The SkyLink Receiver and the SkyLink Base Station use the aforementioned LumenRadio for DMX/RDM communication and a Wi-Fi chip in the Base Station gives direct control from a DMX control application on a tablet or computer.
The receiver can be plugged into the back of any SkyPanel and the SkyLink Base Station has two wireless chips, one for standard Wi-Fi and LumenRadio’s Wireless DMX. The SkyLink can receive a signal up to 1,300 ft (400m) away, and with its swivel DMX connector, the SkyLink Receiver can be rotated 180° in order to achieve the best signal strength, no matter the orientation of the SkyPanel.
ARRI collaborates with OpenDrives
If you've ever run into trouble dealing with ARRIRAW files, OpenDrives has might have a solution with Avalance. According to OpenDrives, "the new ARRIRAW Converter (ARC) complemented by OpenDrives data storage will achieve unprecedented debayer and video playback performance." The tech is using the latest ARRIRAW SDK in the ARRI Partner Program and combining it with fast transfer and storage rates.
Since ARRIRAW files are not encrypted, it allows companies like OpenDrives to offer custom debayering tools in addition to or instead of ARRI’s reference SDK. The OpenDrives collaboration has been designed to with ARRI flagship products ALEXA SXT or ALEXA 65, up to 6.5K.
